While some families stand by this time-tested guideline for polite dinnertime conversation, we absolutely do not. We found (and still find) the dinner table a place for discussion of the most controversial topics imaginable. This blog is simply an extension of that rich experience. We invite you to join our civil, but probing, discourse. TUMS not included...
Philip's Blog Policy: All questions, comments and arguments will be answered and re-answered just about as long as you want to keep it going. Bring it!
Stephen's Blog Policy: Blog posts will be sparse until someone triggers one of my pet issues. When that happens, look out!
Karen's Blog Policy: Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. - Proverbs 26:4

Click here to check out what "my man Mitch" said at a recent Washington symposium. He referred to the recent nationalization of American companies as "shock-and-awe statism," he went on to say, “As I see it, there’s what one might call an audacious endeavor to overwhelm the defenses of freedom and free institutions before they have a chance to regroup and organize themselves.”
The link's not working, but here is the web address - http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0609/23307.html
Mitch puts it very well! You have to read Mark Levin's Liberty and Tyranny. It's one of the best books ever that gives a comprehensive definition of conservatism as compared to statism. A MUST READ!
These "grown-up" sightings are encouraging; as one child once said, "Somebody should have been watching us."
